Curtain Call: Scheduled Sales — Last updated: September 28, 2026
Curtain Call: Scheduled Sales is a Shopify app from Marquee Apps. It lets a merchant schedule sales — a percentage or amount off, shown with the original price struck through — and product releases on their Online Store, and it puts every price back exactly as it was when a sale ends. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
Who we are
Marquee Apps is a trade name of HOMEnet Real Estate LLC, a Utah limited liability company. It is responsible for this app and the data it holds. You can reach us at Support@MarqueeApps.com.
What this app stores
Product prices and the sales that change them. To put prices back exactly, the app keeps a record of every price it changes: the product and variant IDs, each variant's price and compare-at price before the sale, the sale price it set, and what happened when the sale ended. Alongside it, the app keeps each sale's settings (its name, the discount, which products it covers — a tag, a collection or a list of products — and its start and end times and time zone), and a change log recording each price change, when it was made, and any price the merchant changed themselves while the sale was running. For scheduled releases it records which products were on the Online Store before the release. This is information about the merchant's catalogue, not about any person.
A backup copy on each discounted product. While a sale is running, the app also stores that variant's original price and compare-at price on the variant itself, in the merchant's own Shopify store (an app-owned metafield). It exists so prices can still be restored if something goes wrong with our own records, and it is removed when the sale ends.
A session for the merchant's store. Shopify requires an
installed app to hold a record identifying the store it is installed on:
the shop's .myshopify.com domain and the access token Shopify
issued for it. It is what allows the app to change prices and publish
products on the merchant's behalf, and it is used for nothing else. That
token is issued to the store rather than to a person, so no staff member's
name, email address or login is stored with it.
An install record for Marquee Apps. The shop's
.myshopify.com domain, when the app was installed and
uninstalled, whether it is a development or Shopify review store, and the
name and number of the store's current subscription to this app. It is
used only for the notices described below.
The shop owner's email address, for one purpose. When a sale starts, the app reads the store owner's email address from Shopify and keeps it, encrypted, so that if the app is uninstalled while a sale is still running it can email the owner a file that puts the original prices back (Shopify no longer lets an uninstalled app change the store). It is used for nothing else, is never shared, and is deleted with the rest of the shop's data 48 hours after the app is uninstalled.
All of the above except the backup copies is kept in this app's own database, on a server operated by Marquee Apps and hosted with DigitalOcean.
Notices to Marquee Apps, sent through Resend
When a store installs the app, subscribes, changes plan, cancels (or
declines a charge, or lets one expire), or uninstalls, the app sends
Marquee Apps a short email about it through
Resend (resend.com), our email provider. Each one contains the shop's
.myshopify.com domain, the name, price and dates of the plan,
the subscription number, and whether it is a test. It contains nothing
about any person and nothing about shoppers.
How stored data is protected
Encrypted at rest. The store's access token and refresh token, and the shop owner's email address, are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are written to the database, and decrypted only in memory when the app needs them. The encryption key is kept outside the database. Prices, product IDs, sale settings and the change log are not encrypted; they are catalogue facts the merchant's own Shopify admin shows too.
Encrypted in transit. Data travels between Shopify, the merchant's browser and this app over HTTPS (TLS) only. The database is a file on the app's server and is not reachable over the network.
Logs. The server records which of the app's pages and notifications were requested — the address only, nothing after it — and which store they were for; the web server records each visit's IP address and browser. The app's background process logs which sale it is working on and how many prices it changed. No token and nothing about a shopper is ever logged. Logs are deleted after about two weeks.
Customer and shopper information
This app does not collect, store or process personal information about customers or shoppers. It asks Shopify for permission to read and change products and to publish them to sales channels, and for nothing else: it has no access to customers or orders. It adds nothing to the storefront that reports on visitors.
What this app does not do
- It does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts of its own.
- It does not sell or rent any data, and shares none with third parties apart from Resend, which delivers the notices described above.
- It does not access customer or order data.
Data retention
The price records, sale settings and change log are kept while the app is installed, so the merchant can see what changed and when. The session record is deleted when the app is uninstalled. The install record, the price records, sale settings, change log and the owner's email address are deleted when Shopify sends the request to erase the shop's data, 48 hours after the app is uninstalled.
The backup copies on products are removed when each sale ends. If the app is uninstalled while a sale is still running, Shopify no longer lets the app change the store, so those copies — and the sale prices — stay on the products until the merchant changes them. In that case the app emails the shop owner a file of the original prices, with step-by-step instructions to import it in the Shopify admin, which puts every price back.
Data requests
This app subscribes to the three data-protection notifications Shopify requires of every app: a request for a customer's data, a request to erase a customer's data, and a request to erase a shop's data. Because the app holds no customer information, there is nothing to return or erase for the first two. A request to erase a shop's data removes everything the app's database holds for that shop.
A merchant who wants confirmation of what is held for their store, or who wants it removed, can write to the address below.
The merchant's own privacy policy
This page covers only what this app itself does. The store you are visiting has its own privacy policy covering how it collects and uses your personal information more broadly — that policy, not this one, governs your visit and any order you place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised "Last updated" date above.
